Podcasts were interesting to learn about and also fun to do. Podcast are useful to gain information about various topics. While researching and preparing material for our group podcast I came up with a way to implement podcast in my future classroom. I can give the students topics to research and then let them do a podcast about the things they learned. This would be educational as well as entertaining
I will use Google docs spreadsheets to set up my grade book and to calculate my final grades. This way I know everything will be accurate. I will also use Google doc’s spreadsheet to organize personal information about my students such as their address and phone numbers

My Edm Post are Now Complete

The experience is this class was truly amazing. Classmates you were great. Whenever someone needed help we were always there to get each other over the hump. I hope that you guys make the best teachers that I know you have the potential to be.

Things I learned in EDM 310

In EDM 310, I learned how to properly use technology that I can implement in the classroom setting. I am majoring in secondary language arts and I was looking for ways to make it interesting to my students. I will use blogs as a way to get my students enthused about their written assignments. I will give them a list of topics to blog about and then I will grade their blogs entries for grammar and usage. We will also use blogs as a form of classroom discussion. I will also suggest that the teachers at the school set up blogs so that we can exchange advice and ideas.EDM 310.

Learning about Twitter I thought would be pointless. It surprised me when I discovered how useful it could really be. I can tweet with parents about the things we are doing in class and I can quickly contact them if there is a problem. I can tweet with other teachers for advice and can even keep in touch with my students over holidays and weekends using Twitter

I do not have PowerPoint on my home computer; therefore I can use Google doc’s presentation to set up
a slideshow that corresponds with my lecture. I know that some students are visual learners and like to see the material being presented to them. I can also teach my students to use it since it is free to do their classroom presentations as well. By allowing them to teach the class, it give the students a break from hearing my voice and gives them the freedom to teach others in ways in which they understand.

EDM 310 is a very useful class in implementing technology in the classroom. I feel that by taking this class I am better prepared in the fight against video games and television.

EDM 310 Podcast

The EDM 310 Podcasts were really good for everyone not to be professional broadcasters. I have a couple of suggestions however to make them great. I could hear the nervousness in some people's voices. They should do breathing exercises to relax their vocal cords. Another suggestion is to practice, practice, practice because it is true that practice does make perfect.

Another way to make the podcast better is for the students to make them livelier. Although the purpose of the podcasts were to be informative, it doesnt mean that they should be dull. A little pep in ones voice could cure that.

twitter

On my quest for information about twitter I googled it, read articles, watched news stories and asked friends. I created a twitter account and followed others. It is very interesting to see the things that people "tweet" about every hour.

I tried very hard to see how this would help me in my teaching career and I came up with a few ideas.I can tweet with parents about the things we are doing in class and I can quickly contact them if there is a problem. ACCESS

Access( Alabama Connecting Classrooms, Educators and Students Statewide) Distance learning is a tool used by Alabama Public High Schools to allow students to take course using the web and video conferencing technology. The access classroom is unlike regular online classes; teachers and students interact with one another much like in a traditional learning environment.

Access is beneficial because it gives students the opportunity to take classes with Alabama certified instructors that otherwise would not be offered in their schools.

ALEX

The Alabama Learning exchange (Alex) is an interactive website by the Alabama Department of Education. It provides teachers, parents, students and administrators easy access to lesson plans, educational activities, and web resources in a one location. It has a variety of lesson resources for all subjects and grade. Alex is also very user friendly and easy to navigate through. One would click on course of study to choose from an array of subjects then click web links, lesson plans, personal, or personal workspace to get started. The website even has links to Professional Learning and Distance learning.
ALEX is a useful tool for teachers. Teachers can log in to their account to access a personal workspace that allows them to create and save lesson plan. It provides those teachers who are just starting out with a sort of crutch that will allow them to lean on the website for help. This is important so students will not be penalized because their teachers lack experience as I did while in school. It also allow teacher to communicate with other teachers from across the state helping to put the state’s schools on one accord and improving educational standards throughout the state.

Autobiography

To understand who I am it doesn’t take much. My name is Tanara Livingston. I am twenty-two years old .Education is my top priority right now and everything else falls behind. I am majoring in secondary education with a double major in English. Before coming to South, I attended Xavier University of Louisiana there I majored in Pre-Pharmacy. Teaching has always been my calling. At the age of ten years old I started to tutor other kids and I had a way of reaching them to get them to understand the lesson at hand. Although I love kids, I plan to wait before I have any of my own
I am an easy going person. It takes a lot to get under my skin. Scrapbooking is my favorite hobby. I enjoy making pages about my family, friends and the places I have been.
I also like hanging out with my friends. Together we are a super silly bunch. We always have a good time together even when there is nothing to do. Life in my opinion is one big learning process and I keep evolving learning new things everyday.
